Now in its tenth year, the Top Hospitals Programme has recognised and rewarded achievement of acute trusts since 2001.

The Programme includes both client-specific and national awards.  The 40Top Awards and Most Improved Hospital Award are based on 20 indicators of clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care. 

Based on nationally-available datasets, the Patient Safety, Quality of Care and Data Quality Awards (England, N. Ireland, Scotland, Wales) evaluate all acute trusts across the UK against a series of specific performance indicators.  Click here to find out more.
